Dimerization and polymerization of isoprene at high pressures

Article Abstract:

The diamond anvil cell technique along with Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy is used to study the high-pressure reactivity of isoprene at room temperature up to 2.6 GPa. The results have shown that both dimerization and polymerization reaction takes place above 1.1 GPa and that when the pressure is increased, the photoinduced reaction becomes more selective, and the monomer is transformed into the same polymer obtained in the purely pressure-induced reaction.

Mechanistic studies of plasma polymerization of allylamine

Article Abstract:

Plasma polymerization of allylamine is performed both in continuous wave and pulsed mode. Chemical derivatization is applied to determine primary and secondary amine concentration and it is found that primary amines are efficiently formed, but secondary amines are more abundant.

Pressure-induced polymerization in solid ethylene

Article Abstract:

A study on ethylene by the use of high-pressure infrared at the room temperature was performed. The results of the study revealed that the pressure-induced polymerization of ethylene occurs from the crystal phase.
