Direct determination of equilibrium thermodynamics and kinetic parameters from isothermal heat conduction microcalorimetry

Article Abstract:

Calorimetry is recognized as noninvasive, non-destructive method for the determination of both the thermodynamic and the kinetic parameters associated with chemical reactions. The aqueous-solution-phase, imidazole-catalyzed hydrolysis of triacetin is considered as a test reaction for isothermal heat conduction microcalorimeters used to evaluate both thermodynamic and kinetic parameters.

Polyelectrolytic amphiphilic model neworks in water: a molecular thermodynamic theory for their microphase separation

Article Abstract:

The study was conducted on the aqueous aggregation behavior of networks comprising hydrophilic ionic blocks and hydrophobic nonionic blocks by formulating a molecular thermodynamic theory. The results show the unimer-to-miscelle transition accompanied by a discontinuous change in the degree of swelling of the networks.
