Dynamics and rheology in aqueous solutions of associating diblock and triblock copolymers of the same type

Article Abstract:

The association behavior of two types of amphiphilic copolymers in aqueous solution was examined. The copolymers, one a diblock copolymer (DB) and the other a triblock copolymer (TB), were observed to form micelle-like aggregates at elevated concentration. The two types, however, formed aggregates with markedly different association structures. The results revealed that DB solutions formed interconnected clusters at higher concentrations, while TB solutions formed a transient network of micelles connected by bridges at elevated concentrations.

Self-consistent-field analysis of the micellization of carboxy-modified poly(ethylene oxide)-poly(propylene oxide)-poly(ethylene oxide) triblock copolymers

Article Abstract:

An investigation is conducted on the micellization properties of carboxy-modified pluronics P85 (poly(ethylene oxide)-poly(propylene oxide)-poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO-PPO-PEO) triblock copolymers) by means of a molecularly realistic self-consistent-field theory. It is shown that aggregation number (N(sub agg)) decreases whereas the critical micellization concentration (CMC) increases with pH.

Morphology and phase diagram of complex block copolymers: ABC star triblock copolymers

Article Abstract:

Microphases and triangle phase diagrams of ABC star triblock copolymers are investigated on the basis of a real-space implementation of the self-consistent field theory (SCFT) for polymers. The calculations and observations reasonably agree with previous theoretical and experimental results and can be used to guide the design of novel microstructures involving star triblock copolymers.
