Dynamics of ion exchange between self-assembled redox polyelectrolyte multilayer modified electrode and liquid electrolyte

Article Abstract:

A probe beam deflection study of ion exchange between an electroactive polymer poly(allylamine)-bipyridyl-pyridine osmium complex film and liquid electrolyte is reported. The ionic exchange during initial conditioning of the film undergoing oxidation-reduction cycles and recovery after equilibration in the reduced state show an exchange of anions and cations with time tag between them.

Effect of an adsorbent on recombination and band-edge movement in dye-sensitized Ti[O.sub.2] solar cells: Evidence for surface passivation

Article Abstract:

The mechanism by which the adsorbent daffects the open-circuit photovoltage of dye-sensitized Ti[O.sub.2] nanocrystalline solar cells is investigated. The collective effect of both a downward shift of the band edges and slower recombination, owing to the presence of guanidium, results in an overall improvement in the open-circuit photovoltage.
