Effect of a coadsorbent on the performance of dye-sensitized Tio(sub 2) solar cells: Shielding versus band-edge movement

Article Abstract:

An investigation is conducted on the mechanism by which the absorbent chenodeoxycholate, cografted with a sensitizer onto Tio(sub 2) nanocrystals, alters the open-circuit photovoltage and short-circuit current of dye-sensitized solar cells. Absorbed molecules improve the cell performance by inducing band-edge movement and shielding of recombination centers by the organic molecules is the explanation given for the observed effects.

Influence of surface area on charge transport and recombination in dye-sensitized Ti[O.sub.2] solar cells

Article Abstract:

The dependence of the electron transport and recombination dynamics on the internal surface area of mesoporous nanocrystalline Ti[O.sub.2] films in dye-sensitized solar cells is examined. The results have confirmed that photoinjected electrons recombine with redox species in the electrolyte through surface states rather than from the Ti[O.sub.2] conduction band.

Transport-limited recombination of photocarriers in dye-sensitized nanocrystalline TiO(sub 2) solar cells

Article Abstract:

Effect of lithium intercalation on the transport dynamics and recombination kinetics in dye-sensitized solar cells at lithium densities below 5 atom% is presented. Results show that lithium insertion occurs under the normal operating conditions of a cell containing a lithium electrolyte.
