Electrochemical/electrospray mass spectrometric studies of I(super -) and SCN(super -) at gold and platinum electrodes: Direct detection of (SCN)(sub 3)(super -)

Article Abstract:

The results on the electrochemistry of I(super -) and SCN(super -) at gold and platinum electrodes using an electrochemical cell coupled to an electrospray mass spectrometer are reported. All the results demonstrate the ability of this experimental method for the detection of (SCN)(sub 3)(super -), an electrochemically produced species and for the elucidation of electrochemical mechanisms.

Changes of coupling between the electrodes and the molecule under external bias bring negative differential resistance

Article Abstract:

A first-principle study of electrical transport and negative differential resistance (NDR) in a single molecular conductor consisting of a borazine ring sandwiched between two Au(100) electrodes with a finite cross section is reported. The projected density of states (PDOS) and transmission coefficient under various external voltage biases are analyzed.

Laser light and electrodes: Interaction mechanisms and electroanalytical applications

Article Abstract:

The effect of 355 nm, 10 ns laser pulses of 3 - 11 MW cm(super -2) intensity on gold macrodisk electrodes is investigated. The results suggest that the primary activation mechanism involves thermally driven desorption of adventitious surface impurities.
