Electron paramagnetic resonance and solid-state NMR study of cation distribution in LiGa (sub y) Co (sub 1-y) O (sub 2) and effects on the electrochemial oxidation

Article Abstract:

Occupancy of gallium in octahedral sites of layered LiGa (sub y) Co (sub 1-y) O (sub 2) obtained at 3GPa is detected by using (super71) Ga MAS NMR spectroscopy. The Electron paramagnetic resonance spectra of Ni (sub 3+) probes in the series show a reinforcement of local tetragonal distortion of NiO (sub 6) octahedra in the trigonal LiGa (sub y) Co (sub 1-y) O (sub 2) as compared to that in LiCoO (sub 2).

Formation of nanooctahedra in molybdenum disulfide and molybdenum diselenide using pulsed laser vaporization

Article Abstract:

Pulsed laser vaporization is used to produce nanooctahedra of molybdenum disulfide and molybdenum diselenide. A preliminary survey of pulsed laser vaporization of other layered metal chalcogenides indicates that these dichalcogenides differ in their tendency to form small closed layered fullerene-like structures.
