Enhanced reactivity at metal-oxide interface: water interaction with MgO ultrathin films

Article Abstract:

The enhanced reactivity of ultrathin MgO films, grown on Ag(100) toward H2O, is investigated using the high-resolution electron energy loss spectroscopy (HREELS) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The comparison of the results obtained by HREELS and XPS on aged and water-covered MgO layers rules out water to be the main cause of the process.

Floating films of a nonamphiphilic porphyrazine at the air-water interface and LS multilayer construction and optical characterization

Article Abstract:

A Pz derivative, 2,3,7,8,12,13,17,18-Octakis(methylthio)-5,10,15,20-21H,23H-porphyrazine, H2OMTPz, is used to prepare thin films by the Langmuir-Shafer technique. The main feature resulting from the research is the profoundly different molecular organization at the air-water interface and onto hydrophobic quartz and glass substrate.

Monitoring super-and subsurface oxyzen on Ag(210) by high energy resolution X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy: Subsurface diffusion and segregation

Article Abstract:

A report on a high energy resolution X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy plus supersonic molecular beam investigation of O/Ag(210) is presented. Two components are detected in the Ols spectra upon O2 adsorption, at binding energies E(sub B)=527.7 and 529.6 eV.
