Epitaxial assembly in aged colloids

Article Abstract:

The mechanisms of particle growth for four oxides and oxyhydroxides from homogenous solution, which consist of hematite (Fe2O3) synthesized by aging an acidic ferric chloride solution, feroxihite (FeOOH) by oxidation of a ferrous chloride solution, anatase (TiO2) by sol-gel synthesis and hydrothermal aging, and heterogenite (CoOOH) by oxidation of cobalt (II) chloride solution is examined. Findings suggest that the aggregation processes dominate the solution-based growth of several metal oxide / oxyhydroxide particles.

A combined temperature-calorimetric study of ion adsorption at the hematite-electrolyte interface: II. Models of a heterogeneous oxide surface

Article Abstract:

The thermodynamic features of the hematite/electrolyte interfaces are examined and hence a comparative study should be carried out in which various hematite samples could be investigated. These enthalpic effects can be deduced either from temperature dependence of adsorption isotherms or directly measured in appropriate calorimetric experiments.

A combined temperature-calorimetric study of ion adsorption at the hematite-electrolyte interface: I. model of a homogeneous oxide surface

Article Abstract:

The main study objective was the enthalpic effects accompanying ion adsorption at the hematite/electrolyte interfaces. Two sets of experimental data measured in two laboratories, which had the differences in sample preparations, were manifested by substantially different values of the monitored surface charges and related calorimetric effects.
