Excited-state behavior of 7-diethylaminocoumarin dyes in AOT reversed micelles: size effects

Article Abstract:

The photophysical characteristics of two 7-diethylaminocoumarin dyes which are members of the family of coumarinylbenzopyrano pyridines (BC I and BC II), and a third dye, 7-diethyamino-4-fluoromethyl coumarin, were determined in aerosol and water-in-oil microemulsions. For the case of BC I, emission due to two different environments for the dye was seen. At low W0, the excited-state properties of the molecule in the interfacial region were observed to be sensitive to the polarity of the surrounding microenvironment.

Structure of J-aggregates of pseudoisocyanine dye in aqueous solution

Article Abstract:

J-aggregate of P/C in aqueous solution has been visualized by cryo-TEM (cryo-transmission electron microscopy). Quasi two-dimensional superstructures could explain the optical properties of J-aggregates better.
