FRANCE: MORTON INTL INVESTS IN SALT SUBSIDIARY
Article Abstract:
The French salt manufacturer, Compagnie des salins du Midi et des salines de l'est, a subsidiary of the US company, Morton International, turned over FFr 1,136mn in 1999, and is to invest FFr 70mn to modernise its salt production line, in its site in Aigues-Mortes (Gard departement). This production line produces around 400,000 tons annually. As a result, around 100 out of 335 employees would be at risk.

FRANCE: MILLENNIUM INORGANIC CHEMICALS INVESTS

As part of an investment programme worth EUR 43mn, Millennium Inorganic Chemicals will install a white gypsum development unit with a yearly capacity of 75,000 tons per year, and another dedicated to red gypsum with a yearly capacity of 65,000 tons. Both units will be operational in December 2001 in Thann, in the Haut-Rhin departement
