FRANCE: STOLLBERG BUYS DENAIN ANZIN ARM

Article Abstract:

Denain Anzin Mineraux SA of Paris, France, has sold its foundry additives operations to Stollberg GmbH of Oberhausen, Germany. The operations that generate an annual turnover of FFr 30mn were transferred to a new Abbeville-based company called Denain Anzin Metallurgie SA (DAMET). Stollberg will continue investments in the Abbeville plant which currently has an annual production of about 10,000 tonnes. The additives go mainly to the French steel industry. The German company is a leading producer of foundry additives for the steel industry.

Methioninanlage der Degussa in Shanghai

Article Abstract:

German Frankfurt-based Degussa AG is planning to set up a speciality chemical complex in Shanghai, China. The group would invest DM 1bn within the next five years in the production of methionine, sodium cyanide and cyanuric chloride out of hydrocyanic acid. With the project, Degussa would strengthen its position in the world market for dyestuffs and agricultural chemicals. The German company has a market share of 30% in the world market for methionine and that of 40% in the cyanuric chloride market.
