Fabrication of near-infrared photonic crystals using highly-monodispersed submicrometer SiO2 spheres

Article Abstract:

The particle size and the polydispersity of synthesized SiO2 particles depend on reaction conditions, including the relative concentrations of tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS), water, and ammonia. The SiO2 crystalline colloidal array (CCAs) and close-packed SiO2 particle-air arrays diffract light in the near infrared (NIR) spectral region.

Optical properties of crystalline pseudoisocyanine (PIC)

Article Abstract:

A polariton model was used to analyze the normal incidence reflectance spectra of different crystal faces of 1,1'-diethyl-2,2'-cyanine bromide (PIC-Br) and chloride (PIC-CI) single crystals. The different reflection spectra result from directional dispersion of polarization resonance as it is commonly observed for dye-crystals.

Can a foreign particle cause surface instability?

Article Abstract:

The study examined surface instability due to the occurrence of foreign particle. The nature of the surface instability induced by solid particle is contrary to the dendritic type of surface instability.
