Nonexponential fluorescence decay in reaction centers of Rhodobacter sphaeroides reflecting dispersive charge separation up to 1 ns

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted on the nonexponential fluorescence decay pattern of the main donor state P* in the reaction center (RC) of Rhodobacter sphaeroides to determine the origin of the 40 ps to 1 ns fluorescence. Results indicate a correlation of energetically lifted P* states with stronger lifted P+B(sub A)- states. The correlation seems to arise from the interaction with charged amino acid residues in the area of both P and B(sub A)

The lattice inclusion compound of 1,8-ANS and cucurbituril: a unique fluorescent solid

Article Abstract:

Research is presented describing the fluorescent properties and structure of the solid compound formed from mixing aqueous salt solutions of the fluorescent probe 1-anilino-8-naphthalenesulfonate (1,8-ANS) and the cage compound cucurbituril.
