GERMANY: GE BAYER SILICONES BUYS BYK TECHNOLOGY

Article Abstract:

Erkrath-based GE Bayer Silicones GmbH & Co KG has acquired from BYK-Chemie GmbH of Wesel the technology for polyurethane foam stabilisers. BYK-Chemie, a leading producer of paint and plastic additives and part of the Altana group, does not see the chemicals as a core business. It will, however, continue to producer the stabilisers for GE Bayer Silicones, which is to market them worldwide in cooperation with GE Silicones and GE Toshiba.

GERMANY: ROHM TAKES OVER POLYMER LATEX ARM

Article Abstract:

Polymer Latex GmbH & Co KG of Marl does not see spray-dried polymethylmethacrylate-based PVC processing agents as a core business. Therefore the joint venture of Bayer and Degussa-Huls is selling the PVC modifier operations to Rohm GmbH of Darmstadt. The products will be produced and sold by the Munich-based company Barlocher GmbH. Rohm is building a 16,000-tpy emulsion polymerisation facility for PVC processing auxiliaries in Wesseling.
