High pressure Raman spectroscopy of single crystals of hexahydro-1,3,5-trinitro-1,3,5-triazine (RDX)

Article Abstract:

Raman spectroscopy is used to study the hydrostatic and non-hydrostatic compression in order to understand the high-pressure polymorphism of hexahydro-1,3,5-trinitro-1,3,5-triazine (RDX), an energetic crystal. The spatial mapping of Raman modes in a non-hydrostatistically compressed crystal up to 22 GPa have disclosed a large difference in mode position indicating a pressure gradient across the crystal, which has no apparent irreversible changes in the Raman spectra.

Raman spectroscopy of pentaerithrytol single crystals under high pressures

Article Abstract:

Vibrational spectroscopy under high pressures offers a useful method to study and comprehend the impact of the intermolecular interactions on the stability of the molecular crystal structures. The effect of pressure on the Raman spectra of pentaerythritol sole crystals was studied up to 10 GPa to provide a detailed data.

Shock wave-induced phase transition in RDX single crystals

Article Abstract:

The examination of the real-time, molecular-level response of oriented single crystals of hexahydro-1,3,5-trinitro-s-triazine (RDX) to shock compression by using Raman spectroscopy is presented. Results showed no phase transition with a stress increase above 4.0 GPa and were found to be time-dependent.
