Synthesis and one-dimensional self-assembly of acicular nickel nanocrystallites under magnetic fields

Article Abstract:

The preparation of polycrystalline nickel wires with an average length of 10 (mu)m and diameter of about 200nm at 70 degree-Celsius by a hydrothermal process with a 0.25 T magnetic field applied. Suggestions are given that the one-dimensional self-assembly of acicular nickel nanocrystallites with their magnetic easy axes [111] aligned along the magnetic line of force results in the improvement of the magnetic properties.

Synthesis and catalytic of nickel-silica composite hollow nanospheres

Article Abstract:

A process of coating is applied to prepare nickel-silica composite hollow nanospheres (650 nm) with controllable shell thickness. This material with large BET surface area exhibits good catalytic activity and high selectivity in acetone hydrogenetion reaction, showing the potential application as a catalyst.

Methyl pyruvate on Ni (111): coverage-dependent thermal chemistry

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted on the dissociative interaction of methyl pyruvate (CH3COCOOCH3) with Ni (111) between 200 and 450 K. A brief comparison of data for methyl pyruvate on Pt (111) and Ni (111) reveals very different decomposition chemistry on the two metals.
