Synthesis and characterization of surfactant-stabilized Pt/C nanocatalysts for fuel cell applications

Article Abstract:

The platinum nanocatalysts supported on Vucan XC-72 carbon are synthesized through the reduction of chloroplatinic acid with formic acid, using surfactant tetraoctylammonium bromide (TOAB) as the stabilizer in the solvent tetrahydrofuran (THF). An electrochemical measurements shows that the surface area of the 0.76 ratio catalyst is higher than that of the lower molar ratios (0.38 and 01.9).

Controllable Pt nanoparticle deposition on carbon nanotubes as an anode catalyst for direct methanol fuel cells

Article Abstract:

A study for preparation of well-dispersed Pt nanoparticles that were modified by the organic molecule triphphanylphosphine to load Pt nanoparticles on carbon nanotubes (CNTs) without pretreating the CNT is performed. The study reveals a highly feasible approach to produce PT/CNT composite that should have great potential in direct methanol fuel cells (DMFC) application.

Characterization of surface composition of platinum and ruthenium nanoalloys dispersed on active carbon

Article Abstract:

The oxidation of platinum and ruthenium (Pt-Ru) alloy crystallites is confined to their surface upon calcination at ambient temperature. The study denoted observations wherein Pt and Ru can be dispersed on active carbon as nanosized metallic particles by the incipient wetness method.
