Highly selective photochemical and thermal chlorination of benzene by Cl2 in NaZSM-5

Article Abstract:

Thermal and visible light-induced reaction of benzene-Cl2 gas mixtures loaded into zeolite NaZSM-5 was investigated. Results show that 1,4-dichlorobenzene is formed as the sole dichloro product when loading the reactant gas mixture into zeolite NaZSM-5 at -100 degrees C, a selectivity that is unprecedented. No other products aside from chlorinated benzenes are observed even at elevated temperatures or high conversion. Irradiation of 1,4-dichlorobenzene with green or blue light yielded 1,2,4-trichlorobenzene as the only product at high conversion.

Raman imaging and Kelvin probe microscopy for the examination of the heterogeneity of doping in polycrystalline boron-doped diamond electrodes

Article Abstract:

Micro-Raman spectroscopy and Raman imaging, Kelvin probe force microscopy, conducting atomic force microscopy and scanning electrochemical microscopy are used to examine the issue of the heterogeneity of boron doping in microcrystalline diamond films. All these methods have revealed that no enhanced doping or boron depletion occurred at the grain boundaries.

Raman spectroscopy of rhombohedral P4O10

Article Abstract:

A complete Raman vibrational analysis is performed on phase-pure rhombohedral phosphorus pentoxide (P4O10) at room temperature. The factor group analysis for the internal vibrational modes in the reduced C(sub 3v) site symmetry resulted in assignment of three new E modes corresponding to the T1 modes of the isolated Td molecule.
