Hole-burning and absorption studies of the LH1 antenna complex of purple bacteria: effects of pressure and temperature

Article Abstract:

The light harvesting 1 (LH1) antenna complex of wild-type chromatophores and a LH1-only mutant of Rhodobacter sphaeroides was examined by combining spectral hole-burning and absorption spectroscopies with pressure and temperature. Results showed that large pressure shifts is mainly due to the electron exchange couplings between neighboring BChl a molecules of the LH1 ring. The temperature-dependent studies showed that the structure of the LH1 complex undergoes a change at 150 K.

Two-photon-sensitized fluorescence and excitation spectra of photosystem 1 of thermosynechococcus elongatus

Article Abstract:

The study of two-photon excitation spectrum and two photon sensitized fluorescence spectra of photosystem I of thermosynechococcus elongatus are presented. Regardless of the two photon sensitized fluorescence spectrum of PS I does not show increased red chlorophyll fluorescence in comparison to one photon excitation.

How fast is excitation energy transfer in the photosystem II reaction center in the low temperature limit? hole burning vs photon echo

Article Abstract:

The hole spectra proves that isolated Ps II RC EET excited wavelengths occurs in the low temperature unit. This spectra does not speak to EET rates for excitation.
