How does surface modification aid in the dispersion of carbon nanofibres?

Article Abstract:

A comparison is presented on dispersion behavior of acid-treated and as-received carbon nanofibres suspended in water under quiescent conditions, which show a hierarchical morphology consisting small-scale aggregates and large-scale agglomerates. Acid treatment shifts the small-scale size distributions to small bundle sizes and surface treatment breaks up the small-scale aggregates to some extent.

Selective attachment of 1,4-benzenedimethanethiol on the copper mediated Si(111)-(7 x 7) surface through S-Cu linkage

Article Abstract:

The well-defined and patterned copper clusters formed on the Si(111)-(7 x 7) surface is employed as template for selective binding of 1,4-benzendimethanethiol (HS-CH2-C6H4-CH2-SH, 1,4-BDMT). The experiments carried out demonstrate the feasibility for controllable growth of ordered molecular nanostructures on the Si(111)-(7 x 7) surface.

Structural properties, electron localization and magnetic behavior of copper hydroxonitrate: a density functional study

Article Abstract:

The first-principle molecular dynamics approach has been used to investigate the minimum energy structure of Cu2-(NO3)(OH)3 and assess its structural, electronic and magnetic properties. The calculated structure is in close alignment with X-ray experimental determination.
