ICI: a chemicals icon exits the stage

Article Abstract:

Akzo Nobel and Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI) have agreed on the terms of the acquisition deal of the latter at ten euros per share, yielding a total valuation for ICI of approximately 11.95 billion euros. Akzo Nobel has also agreed to sell the Adhesives and Electronic Materials businesses of ICI's National Starch subsidiary to Germany-based Henkel for four billion euros. The scope and proceedings of the deal are discussed.

DSM buys Pentapharm

Article Abstract:

Netherlands-based DSM has acquired Switzerland-based Pentapharm, wherein the latter will be integrated with the former's Nutritional Products unit. Also discussed are DSM's forecasts in terms of structural changes, new products to be marketed, divestments, and relocations.
