In situ attenuated total reflection infrared spectroscopy: a sensitive tool for the investigation of reduction- oxidation processes on heterogeneous Pd metal catalysts

Article Abstract:

Attenuated total reflection (ATR) infrared spectroscopy is used to study the solid-liquid interphase of model catalysts and powder catalysts. The observation of reflectivity alterations in the ATR experiments allows one to correlate changes of the state of a metal catalyst with modifications occurring within the adsorbate layer and the formation of reaction products.

The fate of ethyl pyruvate during adsorption on platinum chirally modified by cinchonidine studied by ATR-IR spectroscopy

Article Abstract:

A study on the behavior of ethyl pyruvate during adsorption on vapor deposited alumina-supported platinum films and on a commercial 5 wt % Pt/Al2O3 is presented. The study concluded that the presence of cinchonidine [10(super -4)] lead to a drastic decrease of the decomposition rate of ethyl pyruvate by a factor of about 60 under the conditions used.
