In-situ measurements of chemical sensor film dynamics by spectroscopic ellipsometry. Partitioning of a chromophore

Article Abstract:

The dynamics of the partitioning of a model chromophore (Ru(bpy)(sub 3)(super 2+)) into a thin porous solid film (Nafion) is described on the basis of spectroscopic ellipsometry data. A globally determined optical multilayer layer model is used to interpret the results along with a presentation of quantitative description of dynamic film, by assembling a model film layer that contained Tauc-Lorentz oscillators to describe the real and imaginary parts of refractive index using the Kramer-Kronig relationship.

Effects of surface anchoring groups (carboxylate vs phosphonate) in ruthenium-complex-sensitized TiO(sub 2) on visible light reactivity in aqueous suspensions

Article Abstract:

A study is conducted to compare the visible light reactivities and properties of two sensitized Pt/TiO(sub 2) photocatalysts (Pt/TiO(sub 2)RuL(sub 3)) on which ruthenium bipyridyl complexes (RuL(sub 3)) are anchored through carboxylic (c-RuL(sub 3))or phosphonic (p-RuL(sub 3)) acid groups. The photoreductive dechlorination of CCl(sub 4) and trichloroacetate (TCA) and the hydrogen production in aqueous suspensions were used as probe reactions for the visible light reactivity.

A time dependent density functional theory study of alpha-84 phycocyanobilin chromophore in C-phycocyanin

Article Abstract:

The optical characteristics of absorption and circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopy of an alpha-subunit of C-phycocyanin (C-PC) were investigated. Results indicate that in the visible absorption region the main peak arises from the Pi electron excitation of the pyrrole rings and the shoulder peak comes from the charge transfer from Asp87 (a nearby amino acid residue) to alpha-84 phycocyanobilin molecule PCBH(super +).
