Influence of calcining temperature on photoluminescence and triboluminescence of europium-doped strontium aluminate particles prepared by sol-gel process

Article Abstract:

A phase transformation from Sr (sub 3) Al (sub 2) O (sub 6) to SrAl (sub 2) O (sub 4) was found during the calcining process of the SAO-E practicles. Accompanying this phase transformation, the light emission transition of SAO-E particles at low calcining temperature originated from both Eu (super 2plus) and Eu (super 3plus) ions, and the trivalent europium from ions existed in the SrAl (sub 2) O (sub 4) phase.

Adsorption and dissociation of O2 on gold surfaces: Effect of steps and strain

Article Abstract:

The activation of dioxygen via dissociation on strained and stepped gold surfaces has been studied using periodic self-consistent density functional theory (DFT) calculations. The magnitude of the dissociation barriers, combined with the fact that the transition states lie above the gas-phase zero on all three surfaces, suggests that O2 dissociation remains an activated process on gold.

Atom-resolved noncontact atomic force microscopic observations of CeO2(111) surfaces with different oxidation states: surface structure and behavior of surface oxygen atoms.

Article Abstract:

Structures of CeO2 (111) surfaces were studied by atom-resolved NC-AFM observations. The surface oxygen defects were healed by exposure to O2 gas at room temperature.
