Influence of solvent and crystalline supramolecular structure on the formation of etching patterns on acetaminophen single crystals: a study with atomic force microscopy and computer simulation

Article Abstract:

A new study uses atomic force microscopy to investigate the evolution of surface morphology of acetaminophen crystals after partial dissolving with selected solvents on the cleaved (010) face.

How solvents affect acetaminiphen etching pattern formation: interaction between solvent and acetaminophen at the solid/liquid interface

Article Abstract:

The interactions between solvent and acetaminophen molecules and the solid-liquid interface were studied through the differences in etching patterns from different solvents. Solvent adsorption effects can be studied better through observation of etching pattern as compared to predicted behavior.

Dissolution study on aspirin and alpha-glycine crystals

Article Abstract:

The (100) face of aspirin and the ()10) face of alpha-glycine are used for partial dissolution studies for aspirin and alpha-glycine crystals. The formation of etching patterns is determined by attachment energies that are important in guiding surface diffusion, and is also affected by solvents with different solubilizing ability and surface adsorption potential.
