Influence of surface modification on the luminescence of colloidal ZnO nanocrystals

Article Abstract:

The influence of surface modification by various surface-capping procedures on the dehydrogenationde of colloidal ZnO nanocrystals is described, with particular emphasis given to factors increasing excitonic emission quantum yields. The nearly pure excitonic emission seen after heating in dodecylamine (DDA) is attributed to the removal of surface defects from the ZnO nanocrystal surfaces and to the relatively high packing density of DDA on the ZnO surfaces.

Defects in ZnO nanorods prepared by hydrothermal method

Article Abstract:

ZnO nanorod arrays are fabricated using a hydrothermal method. Results reveal that, while the defect emission could be significantly reduced by annealing at 200 degree Celsius, the rods still have large defect concentrations as confirmed by their low positron diffusion length and short photoluminescence (PL) decay time constants.

Tunable photoluminescent and cathodoluminescent properties of ZnO and ZnO:Zn phosphors

Article Abstract:

The preparation of microcrystalline ZnO and ZnO:Zn powder phosphors by the polyol-method followed by annealing in air and reducing gas respectively are explained. The obtained ZnO and ZnO:Zn powders posses the hexagonal structure with the particle size in the range of 1-2 mum.
