Infrared reflection-absorption spectroscopy of thin organic films on nonmetallic substrates: optimal angle of incidence

Article Abstract:

The p- and s-polarized spectra of Langmuir-Blodgett thin films of cadmium arachidate were determined using infrared reflection-absorption spectroscopy (IRRAS). The thin film samples were measured in various angles of incidence from 20 to 80 degrees. The difference and the normalized spectra was determined through the reflectance studies. The findings demonstrate that the IRRAS spectra of thin films can be recorded at high angles of incidence on dielectric substrates with an optimal signal to noise ratio and a refractive index near 1.4.

Formation of metallic Langmuir film on the water surface with fatty acid and BEDO-TTF molecules

Article Abstract:

The experiment was done where the formation process of metallic Langmuir film on the water surface fabricated from BEDO-TF (BO) and stearic acid (SA) was described. The optical conductivity in the Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films can be compared with those of the superconductor crystal (BO)2ReO4(H2O) through the Drude optical parameters obtained from the IR spectra fitting.

Surface characterizations of carbon multiwall nanotubes: Comparison between surface active sites and Raman spectroscopy

Article Abstract:

Two selected series of multiwalled nanotubes are selected on which a thermal treatment and/or o controlled surface oxidation is carried out using nitric acid solutions. The structural changes of the nanotubes due to the treatments are followed by a solid-state chemistry approach and a more physical approach with Raman microspectroscopy.
