Inorganic-organic hybrid nonlinear optical films containing bulky alkoxysilane dyes

Article Abstract:

The preparation, characterization and copolymerization of tetraalkoxysilane (TEOS) with the ratio of 1:5 of two bulky alkoxysilane dyes, based on nonlinear optical(NLO)-active triphenylamino derivatives having high thermal stabilities without and with a cyano group substitution on the vinylene moiety (TPAH and TPACN respectively) is presented. The study of chromophoric structures of NLO properties demonstrates that the cyano substitution on the vinylene bridge of the chromophore can improve the temporal stability substantially.

Emission frequency modulation by electronic confinement effect: Congo Red incorporated within a dendritic structure

Article Abstract:

The photophysical properties of an organic dye (Congo Red) incorporated within the internal cavities of a dendrimer (type polypropylenimine of fifth-generation modified with a dense shell of amino acids) is investigated. It is observed that the emission frequencies of Congo Red, on modulation by electronic confinement effect, can be red shifted with respect to their emission solution, and the magnitude of this shifting can be modulated under appropriate experimental conditions.

Orientation by dye molecules in DNA-based films with chain alignment and judgment of their DNA-binding modes

Article Abstract:

Novel composite films of chain-oriented DNA, which contain the DNA-binding dyes aligned in specific orientation, were successfully prepared by drying the solution under a horizontal magnetic field. Most of the dye-DNA composite films showed linear dichroism, as revealed by polarized ultraviolet-visible (UV-vis)spectroscopy.
