Intercalation of ethidium into triple-strand poly(rA).2poly(rU): A thermodynamic and kinetic study

Article Abstract:

The kinetics and equilibria of the interaction of ethidium bromide (EB) with the triple-stranded RNA, poly(rA).2poly(rU), are investigated by stopped-flow, absorption, fluorescence, and circular dichroism methods to assess the effect of the third strand on the polymer molar properties, molar volumes and adiabatic compressibilities. The comparison with the duplex/EB systems has revealed that the additional strand of poly(U) has hindered the formation of the intermediate complex [DS.sub.1], while stabilizing the structure of the final [DS.sub.II] complex by hampering the partial slipping out of the dye from the triplex cavity.

XPS study of stillbazolium chromophores and their intercalation compounds in the MnPS3 layered phase

Article Abstract:

The effects of intercalation in the MnPS3 layered phase on the electronic properties of stilbazolium chromophores are studied using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Results indicate the sensitivity of the charge distribution on the central part of the chromophore and a strong donor-acceptor intramolecular charge transfer leading to intense shake-up of satellite peaks. A perturbation of the electronic distribution of the chromophores is observed following intercalation in the MnPS3 layered phase.

Solvent quality changes the structure of G8 PAMAM dendrimer, a disagreement with some experimental interpretations

Article Abstract:

Molecular dynamics (MD) simulations were performed for the generation of PAMAM dendrimer in explicit water under varying pH conditions to study the structure of dendrimer. It was found that changing the pH from a high value to a low value changes the radius of gyration and there is also significant back-folding of the primary amines and large amount of water penetration inside the polymer.
