Intrinsic vibrational coherence in face-centered cubic supra-crystals of silver nanocrystals: Raman scattering measurements

Article Abstract:

The vibrational properties of three-dimensional (3D) silver nanocrystal assemblies of different degrees of ordering are analyzed to describe the intrinsic physical properties due to the self-organization of 5 nm silver nanocrystals in face-centered cubic (fcc) superlattices. Low-frequency Raman scattering is used to demonstrate vibrational coherence in fcc supra-crystals of nanocrystals and for any supra-crystals size, the Lorentz field effect is manifested by a shift to low frequency of the quadrupolar Raman line.

Dependence of water dynamics upon confinement size

Article Abstract:

The combination of infrared spectroscopy and quasielastic light scattering is used to evaluate the extent of perturbation of water encapsulated in fluorocarbon reverse microemulsions. The results showed characteristics of water confined in the core radii lower than ~ 10nm strongly deviate changes upon decreasing water core size.

Structural and thermal characterization of mono- and diacyl polyoxyethylene glycol by infrared spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction coupled to differential calorimetry

Article Abstract:

Coupled time-resolved synchrotron X-ray diffraction and differential scanning calorimetry combined with infrared spectroscopy are used to study the physical and thermal properties of polyoxyethylene glycol glycerides. Possible interdigitation of fatty acid chains is discussed.
