Collano Ebn ther AG, Sempach has successfully introduced the new technology of hot-melt adhesive specialities. They offer an increased UV resistance and cohesion to the label and medical industry. Another example are special labels for the automobile industry. The internationally active Swiss adhesive producer increased its turnover by 7% to Sfr 59.6mn with 170 employees in 1997. Its profit rose to Sfr 1.3mn (+8.3%). The export share increased from 63% to 69%.

GERMANY: MAPEI INAUGURATES ADHESIVES PLANT

Article Abstract:

Italian Mapei SpA has inaugurated a new 400,000-tpy construction adhesives factory in Weferlingen, eastern Germany. The investment amounted to about L 100bn. The plant buys quartz sand from Quarzwerke GmbH of Frechen. Mapei is considering to set up research centre, its fourth such facility beside existing ones in Italy and North America, in Weferlingen.
