Laser photolysis of silver colloid prepared by citric acid reduction method

Article Abstract:

A colloid consisting of small spherical silver nanoparticles with d(sub p)=8 nanometer (nm) is prepared by irradiating a silver colloid, prepared through the citric reduction methods using the second harmonic of a Nd:YAG laser, lambda = 532nm, with the laser fluence more than about 0.2 joules/cm(super 2). The process of particle formation could be divided into three steps, first, large particles that existed in the initial colloid evaporate fully producing a large amount of silver atom, primary particles with d(sub p)=2-4 nm are formed in mini plumes and these primary particles grow up to 8nm as silver atoms diffuse them through water.

Mechanisms of electron transfer in two decaheme cytochromes from a metal-reducing bacterium

Article Abstract:

The study explains the electron transfer mechanisms in two decaheme c-type cytochromes obtained from a metal-reducing bacterium. The two cytochromes are shown to exhibit different physiological and tunneling behaviors.
