Local hydration environments of amino acids and dipeptides studied by X-ray spectroscopy of liquid microjets

Article Abstract:

A study to measure the nitrogen K-edge spectra of aqueous proline and diglycine solutions by total electron yield near-edge X-ray absorption fine structure (NEXAFS) spectroscopy at neutral and high pH was performed. The results revealed that the alpha amine group is present in an acceptor-only configuration while the end of butylammonium side chain is fully solved.

Comparative X-ray photoemission spectroscopy study of Au, Ni, and AuNi clusters produced by laser vaporization of bulk metals

Article Abstract:

The shifts in binding energy of the Ni 2p3/2 and Au 4f7/2 levels in Au, Ni and AuNi clusters deposited on HOPG are reported. It is concluded that the shift of the bimetallic system is controlled by alloying effects and local order at the atomic scale.

Distortion of the fluorescence spectrum of all-trans-1,6-diphenyl-1,3,5-hexatriene with increasing laser pulse excitation energies

Article Abstract:

A description is presented of the excitation pulse intensity dependence of the luminescence response of all-trans-1,6-diphenyl-1,3,5-hexatriene at 298 K in methylcyclohexane and acetonitrile.
