Long-range interactions between soft colloidal particles in slit-pore geometries

Article Abstract:

Various theoretical and experimental studies are conducted to investigate and analyze the structure formation, as well as the long-range interactions between the charged soft colloidal suspensions of silica particles in bulk and spatial confinement (slit-pure geometry). The analysis reveals that the systems with large ionic strengths and more short-ranged interactions do not follow the power law behavior and instead act like an uncharged hard-sphere fluid.

XPS study of interface and ligand effects in supported Cu(sub 2)O and CuO nanometric particles

Article Abstract:

An analysis of the changes in the photoemission parameters of copper in small particles of copper oxides deposited on silicon dioxide is reported. Using X-ray photoemission spectroscopy, it is shown that Cu(super +) species at the surface of SiO(sub 2) may interact with an organic ligand such as phenyl-acetylene, and that due to this interaction there are changes in the electronic parameters of copper and in its coordination states.

Colloidal CdSe nanocrystals synthesized in noncoordinating solvents with the addition of a secondary ligand: Exceptional growth kinetics

Article Abstract:

The size distribution of CdSe nanocrystals grown in octadecene (ODE) can be improved by introducing a small amount of trictylphosphine oxide (TOPO). An exceptional type of growth mechanism is observed in which, after nucleation, clear defocusing instead of focusing follows.
