Metal ion interaction with phosphorylated tyrosine analogue monolayers on gold

Article Abstract:

Metal ion interaction analysis was carried on the monolayers formed by assembling phosphorylated tyrosine analogue molecules (pTyr-PT) onto gold substrates, which were characterized by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), infrared reflection-absorption spectroscopy (IRAS), cyclic voltammetry (CV), and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), both before and after the exposure to the metal ions. The monolayers showed an excellent capability to coordinate metal ions and have a high potential for use as sensing layers in biochip applications to monitor the presence of metal ions.

Structural investigation of 3,4-dihydroxyphenylalanine-terminated propanethiol assembled on gold

Article Abstract:

The structure of a 3,4-dihydroxyphenyalanine(DOPA)-derived thiol self-assembled on a gold surface is investigated using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), infrared reflection-absorption spectroscopy (IRAS) and near-edge X-ray absorption fine structure spectroscopy (NEXAFS). Strong molecular binding of DOPA-PT on gold through the sulphur atom is achieved.

Electronic excitation in synthetic eumelanin aggregates probed by soft X-ray spectroscopies

Article Abstract:

The soft X-ray spectroscopy was used to investigate the electronic excitations of condensed phase eumelanin aggregate. The resonant photoemission data has shown that mechanisms of charge delocalization might occur when electrons are excited about 3 eV above the first unoccupied electronic level.
