Dynamics of spin-correlated radical pairs in non-ionic surfactant solutions

Article Abstract:

Time-resolved (CW) electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy (TREPR) was used to investigate the different dynamics of radical pairs created in micelles made from nonionic, poly (ethylene glycol) (PEG)- based surfactants (Brij-35, Triton X-100, and Cremophor EL). Spectral simulation and comparison to other PEG radicals show that H-atom abstraction is taking place in PEG outer shell of Brij-35 and Triton X-100micelles rather than in the alky chain core.

Dynamics, site binding, and distribution of counterions in polyelectrolyte solutions studied by electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy

Article Abstract:

Quantitative information is obtained on the structure, dynamics, and spatial distribution of contact ion pairs formed by site binding of divalent counterions to a polyelectrolyte. The experiment provides an estimate of 20 % site-bound and 80 % territorially bound divalent counterions in glycerol/water glassy frozen solution.

Interstitial OH radicals in [F.sub.2]-laser-irradiated bulk amorphous Si[O.sub.2]

Article Abstract:

An interstitial hydroxyl radical is generated in bulk amorphous Si[O.sub.2] loaded with interstitial [H.sub.2]O molecules and exposed to [F.sub.2] laser light. [F.sub.2] laser light dissociates an O-H bond of interstitial [H.sub.2]O into a pair of hydrogen atom and interstitial hydroxyl radical.
