Microwave-assisted chemical functionalization of hydrogen-terminated porous silicon surfaces

Article Abstract:

The chemical functionalization of hydrogen-terminated porous silicon surfaces with simple and functional 1-alkanes under microwave irradiation to give organic monolayers covalently attached to the surface through Si-C bonds is described. The use of microwaves as a source of energy is shown to lead to an increase in the arte of the hydrosilylation reaction and a higher surface coverage.

Surface-enhanced infrared absorption and amplified spectra on planar silver halide fiber

Article Abstract:

Surface-enhanced infrared absorption (SEIRA) on a planar silver halide surface is discovered and the effect is observed on a nonmetallic substrate. The surface-enhanced infrared absorption (SEIRA) was discovered soon after the discovery of SERS for surface layers on metal films.

Growth of gold nanorods on surfaces

Article Abstract:

The surfactant-assisted seeded growth method was adapted for growth of gold nanorods directly in mica surfaces. The probability to grow elongated particles out of a seed on the surface was found to be larger than the comparable solution growth process.
