Molecular crystal structure of acetylacetone at 210 and 110 K: is the crystal disorder static or dynamic?

Article Abstract:

The molecular and crystal structures of acetylacetone (AA) have been studied to gain an insight into the nature of hydrogen bonds and crystal disorders. A single crystal has been grown by in situ crystallization and x-ray diffraction studies were done at 21O K along with high-resolution studies at 110 K. Results reveal the intramolecular hydrogen bond in the simplest cis-enol molecule has two distinct potential minima with the central hydrogen atom equally distributed over two positions near the oxygens.

Preparation of single-crystalline NdVO4 nanorods, and their emissions in the ultraviolet and blue under ultraviolet excitation

Article Abstract:

A facile sacrificial (NH4 )(sub 0.5)V2O5 nanowires that approach to single-crystalline NdVO4 nanorods are described. The Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and selected area electron diffraction (SAED) show that the nanorods grew respectively along the [312] and [101] direction on the (NH4 )(sub 0.5)V2O5 nanowires.

Lamellar racemic twinning as an obstacle for the resolution of enantiomers by crystallization: the case of Me (AII) N+ (CH2Ph) Ph X- (X = Br, I) salts

Article Abstract:

Lamellar racemic twinning of chiral ammonium salts X=Br and X=I are found and investigated. The enantiomeric composition of the majority of the crystals obtained by crystallization from solutions of racemates, despite the chiral space group, is discovered to be racemic.
