Molecular interpretation for the solvation of poly(acrylamide)s. I. Solvent-dependent changes in the C(double bond)O stretching band region of poly(N,N-diaikylacrylamide)s

Article Abstract:

Infrared (IR) spectroscopy is used to analyze the solvation of poly(N,N-dimethylacrylamide) (PNdMA) and poly(N,N-diethylacrylamide) (PNdEA) in various protic and aprotic solvents. Two C(double bond)O bands are mainly observed in the IR spectra of PNdMA and PNdEA in the protic solvents, which shows that the solvation of a polymer can be interpreted at the molecular level using infrared spectroscopy sensitive to solvent effects.

Chain-length-dependent conformational transformation and melting behavior of Alkyl/Oligo(oxyethylene)/Alkyl triblock compounds: Alpha-Hexyl-Omega-hexyloxyoligo(oxyethylene)s

Article Abstract:

The chain-length-dependent conformational transformation and melting behavior of triblock compounds Alpha-Hexyl-Omega-hexyloxyoligo(oxyethylene)s is examined by differential scanning calorimetry and infrared spectroscopy. The molecular form is determined by the balance of the intramolecular conformational restoring force in the central oligo block and the intermolecular packing force in the end alkyl blocks.

Hydration of short-chain poly(oxyethylene) in carbon tetrachloride: An infrared spectroscopic study

Article Abstract:

Hydration of short-chain poly(oxyethylene)s, CH3(OCH2CH2)mOCH3 in carbon tetrachloride is studied by infrared spectroscopy. Results suggest that both monodentate and bidentate hydrogen bonds are important and the latter is destabilized more rapidly than the former with increasing temperatures.
