Molecular simulation studies of the orientation and conformation of cytochrome c adsorbed on self-assembled monolayers

Article Abstract:

Combined Monte Carlo and molecular dynamics simulation approach are used to investigate the orientation and conformation of Cyt-c on carboxyl-terminated SAMs. The mechanism of the orientation and conformation of adsorbed proteins at the molecular level is focused upon and useful information for the design and development of biosensors and other bielectronic devices are provided.

Effect of bicarbonate ions on the crystallization of calcite on self-assembled monolayers

Article Abstract:

The interfaces between self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) and the polar faces of calcite are modeled to investigate the prevalence of the nucleation of (0112)-oriented crystals on SAM substrates and the observed odd-even effects. The results demonstrate that bicarbonate ions play an important role in determining the orientation of calcite growth on SAMs.

Conformational substrates of horse heart cytochrome c exhibit different thermal unfolding of the heme cavity

Article Abstract:

The respective band profile of horse heart ferri-cytochrome c was measured as a function of temperature between 283 K and 333 K. It was found that the decrease of the absorptivity is wavenumber-dependent and exhibits a biphasic behavior.
