Akzo Nobel Aerospace Coatings (ANAC) is spending about EUR 2.7mn on the construction of a new paint factory in Sassenheim that is to become operational in the last quarter of 2001. The new Aerospace Colour Centre with an area of 900 sq.m will produce small batches.

The Belgian consultancy company Irfab predicts waterborne industrial coatings to gain about 30% of the market by 2010, up from 20% at present. By then, Europe's production of waterborne industrial coatings is forecast to double from more than 500,000 per year at present.

Article Abstract:

Akzo Nobel Aerospace Coatings of Sassenheim, Netherlands, has developed a new high-solid system for aircraft coatings. The two-coat system is 40% lighter than conventional systems, which allows a reduction in fuel consumption.
