Narrow bandwidth spontaneous luminescence from oriented semiconducting polymer nanostructures

Article Abstract:

Observation of uniformly oriented transition moments along the z-axis of single MEH-PPV molecules that point to a high degree of intramolecular alignment of conjugated segments is reported. The observation of discrete emission characteristics in this important class of materials suggests exciting possibilities in photonics and molecular optoelectronics.

Amino acid side chain interactions in the presence of salts

Article Abstract:

A study on the effects of salt on the intermolecular interactions between polar/charged amino acids using molecular dynamics simulations was conducted. The results revealed that a critical balance of solvent force of amino acids operates on the solutes in the range up to 2 molar concentrations.

Transfer of photoenergy in pi-conjugated polymers. Two types of photoluminescence that involve energy transfer along a polymer chain

Article Abstract:

Two-types of energy transfer in pi-conjugated polymers are investigated using time-resolved photoluminescence (PL) techniques. A polarizing film was obtained by utilizing the perpendicular-type energy transfer.
