Near-field optical imaging of transient absorption dynamics in organic nanocrystals

Article Abstract:

The transient absorption dynamics in organic crystals is studied by collection-mode near-field scanning optical microscopy combined with femtosecond two-color pump-probe spectroscopy. The capability of combining ultrafast two-color time-resolved pump-probe spectroscopy with collection-mode near-field optical microscopy for optical imaging and spectroscopic studies of the transient absorption dynamics in organic nanostructures, with ~200 nm spatial resolution and ~150 fs temporal resolution is demonstrated.

Cellular signaling and protein-protein interactions studied using fluorescence recovery after photobleaching

Article Abstract:

Fluorescence recovery after photobleaching (FRAP) is used to study the mobility of p85alpha in the cytoplasm and nucleus of live human TE671 cells and to determine whether the interaction with fibroblast growth factor receptor (FGFR1) will influence p85alpha mobility. The mobility of p85alpha-fused to enhanced green fluorescent protein (EGFP) is significantly reduced when cotransfected with FGFR1, in both the cytoplasm and nucleus, are demonstrated.

Cooperative enhancement of two-photon absorption in multi-branched structures

Article Abstract:

It has been possible to identify a cooperative enhancement of two-photon absorption in multi-branched structures. This work may lead to new design criteria for development of multi-branched polymers and dendrimers with very strong two-photon activities.
