Nonequilibrium generalization of chemical potential of flowing fluids

Article Abstract:

Research was conducted to examine the nonequilibrium generalization of chemical potential of flowing fluids. Results establish how the chemical potential of the components of a fluid mixture is modified in the presence of a shear viscous pressure. The nonequilibrium effects are large in polymer solutions in comparison to what takes place in gases or in solutions of small molecules. The effects of shear-induced degradation on the molecular weight distribution of the polymer were also deduced.

Extended irreversible thermodynamics of chemically reacting systems

Article Abstract:

Research was conducted to examine a phenomenological model for the thermodynamics of nonequilibrium chemically reacting systems. The model was based on the perspective of extended irreversible thermodynamics. It was assumed that the specific entropy of a nonlocal equilibrium system may depend on the reaction rate and on the classical variables. Results based on the kinetic theory of reacting dilute gas mixtures confirm the assumption.

Generalized thermodynamics of global irreversible processes in a finite macroscopic system

Article Abstract:

Research aiming to identify the fundamental extended Gibbs relation, compensated heat and uncompensated heat for global irreversible processes has obtained formulas for global irreversible processes from the local field theory of macroscopic processes in space-time.
