On the nature of the fluorescent state in beta-nitrotetraarylporphyrins

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to analyze the properties of of the fluorescent state in 2-NO2-5,10,15,20-tetraphenylporphyrins. The existence of the asymmetrically beta-substituted porphyrins in solution as a mixture of a couple of NH tautomers was also investigated. Results indicated that the fluorescent state of 2-NO2-5,10,15,20-tetraphenylporphyrins supports a normal porphyrinic state with a large dipole moment and conformational flexibility of the NO2 group.

Spectroscopy and Photo physics of self-organized zinc porphyrin nanolayers. 2. Transport properties of singlet excitation

Article Abstract:

Excitation diffusion is studied in 5-25-nm-thick films of zinc tetra-(p-octylphenyl)-porphyrin (ZnTOPP) spin-coated onto quartz slides by doping with quenchers using steady-state and time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy. The neighboring stacks aggregate in a herringbone structure, forming ordered domains that were randomly oriented in the substrate plane, and an energy-transfer rate constant of (7 plusmn 2) x 10(super 10)s(super minus1).

Photophysical and structural properties of saddle-shaped free base porphyrins: evidence for an "orthogonal" dipole moment

Article Abstract:

Ground-and excited absorption and florescence properties of three base porphyrins with graded degrees of a macrocycle distortion are studied. The findings have implications for the function of tetrapyrrole cofactors in the biological proteins and for the use of nonpolar porphyrins in molecular optoelectronics.
