On the structure and desorption dynamic of DNA bases adsorbed on gold: A temperature-programmed study

Article Abstract:

Temperature-programmed desorption-infrared reflection absorption spectroscopy and temperature-programmed desorption-mass spectroscopy were used for examining the structure and desorption dynamics of mono and multilayer samples of DNA bases on polycrystalline gold thin films. A less complicated adsorption/desorption behavior is displayed by purines, cytosine and thymine whereas pyrimidines, adenine and guanine adsorb to gold in a complex manner.

AFM study of water meniscus formation between an AFM tip and NaCl substrate

Article Abstract:

Water meniscus formation at the point of contact between an AFM tip and an automatically smooth NaCl substrate are studied as a function of atmospheric water content, from 70 per cent relative humidity to ultrahigh vacuum (UHV). The results indicate that all data are consistent with both types of tips resulting in the formation of a meniscus even at 0 per cent relative humidity.

Multipole plasmon resonances in gold nanorods

Article Abstract:

The first experimental observation of higher-order surface plasmon modes for colloidal cylindrical gold rods is provided. Anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) templates provide access to rod structures that show higher-order surface plasmon resonances that was never seen before.
