Phase segregation in cerium-lanthanum solid solutions

Article Abstract:

Electron energy-loss spectroscopy (EELS) in combination with scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM) has shown that La enrichment at the surface of cerium-lanthanum solid solutions is an averaged effect and that segregation occurs in a mixed oxide phase. STEM-EELS is a powerful method to clarify the existence of a multiphase system and it shows that XRF, XPS and XRD measure averaged results and do not show the phase complexity of the solids.

MnO(sub 2-) embedded-in-mesoporous-carbon-wall structure for use as electrochemical capacitors

Article Abstract:

An in situ reduction method is presented to synthesize a novel structured MnO(sub 2)/mesoporous carbon (MnC) composite. The results show that different MnO(sub 2) contents could be introduced into the pores of CMK-3 treated with different concentrations of potassium permanganate aqueous solution, while retaining the ordered mesostructure and larger surface area.

Epitaxial synthesis of uniform cerium phosphate one-dimensional nanocable heterostructures with improved luminescence

Article Abstract:

Uniform CePO4LaPO4 and CePO4:Tb(super 3+)@LaPO4 one-dimensional single-crystalline nanocable heterostructures with highly enhanced photoluminescent emission is synthesized. The photoluminescence results for these one-dimensional nanocable heterostructures illustrate that the uniform LaPO4 sheaths remarkably increase the luminescent efficiency.
