Photophysics of Fac-Tris(2-phenylpyridine) iridium(III) cored electroluinescent dendrimers in solution and films

Article Abstract:

The photoluminescence (PL) dynamics of Ir(ppy)(sub 3)-cored dendrimers with the simple molecule Ir(ppy)(sub 3) in solution, blends, and neat films are discussed. Extensive aggregation of Ir(ppy)(sub 3) molecules is indicated by their rough surface with aggregated region of rodlike structure, as obtained by atomic force microscopy, which suggests that the PL quenchers in neat Ir(ppy)(sub 3) films may be excimers.

Intra-and interchain luminescence in amorphous and semicrystalline films of phenyl-substituted polythiophene

Article Abstract:

The time-resolved photoluminescence (PL) studies of pristine and annealed films of regioregular poly [3-(4-octylphenyl) thiophene](POPT) are shown by X-ray diffraction studies that spin-cast films of the polymer essentially amorphous. In spin-cast amorphous films, emission from intrachain singlet excitons has a longer lifetime than in annealed films and only high-energy gap aggregates are populated.
