Photorefractivity in nematic liquid crystals using a donor-acceptor dyad with a low-lying excited singlet state for charge generation

Article Abstract:

An aminoaryleneimide with extended conjugation, 5PMI, which possesses a low energy absorption band extending into the near-infrared region of the spectrum, exhibits significant photorefractive effects in nematic liquid crystal (LC) composites is demonstrated. The results viewed that aminoaryleneimides are promising new charge donating chromophores that are capable of extending photorefractive performance of nematic liquid crystal composites into the near-infrared region of the spectrum.

New insight into cation relocations within the pores of zeolite RHO: in situ synchrotron x-ray and neutron powder diffraction studies of Pb- and Cd-excahnged RHO

Article Abstract:

Full structure analyses were undertaken using time-resolved synchronton X-ray powder diffraction and neutron powder diffraction data collected on Pb- and Cd-exchanged RHO to provide information on the structural changes observed in zeolite RHO. Further the results of the temperature, atmosphere and gas loading combined in situ synchronton X-ray and neutron powder diffraction study is reported.

Theoretical investigation of hydrated hydronium ions on Ag(111)

Article Abstract:

The absorption of hydronium ions on Ag(111) in conditions that simulate the structures of the double layer suing the ab initio quantum mechanical Moller-Plesset second-order method is investigated. The absorption of the ions is studied in the increase in the absence and presence of external electric fields comparable to those present in the electrochemical interface.
